| The Modesto Briseno Septet, with vocalist Kenny Washington And featured guest, vibraphonist Christian Tamburr |
The Briseno Septet is composed of some of the Bay Area’s best, most experienced musicians who have played together for some time and are a wonderfully cohesive group. Trumpeter Briseno arranges jazz classics and ballad standards of the 50s and 60s into a modern, melodic, driving style with plenty of soloist opportunities. You will dig this band. |

Critic Andrew Gilbert weighs in: “Long revered by his musical peers for a surfeit of soul and ebullient sense of swing. . . Scats with the daring and rhythmic command of a bebop saxophonist. . .interprets standards with intelligence and emotional commitment.” And “After a week at Lincoln Center Dizzy’s club in NYC, he walked away with the audience in his pocket.” Christian Tamburr has performed with his quartet at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Cocoa Beach Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival. Previous gigs include the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and clubs in NYC and Hollywood.
